Lecture 7

My design aims to create a complex “discrete space” and these two images from the previous student have expressed the similar idea. The completely separated posts build up a discrete plane. In order to give a three-dimensional feature to this plane, a continuous ramp in the form of staircases is made to be the connection of outer spaces to this discrete plane. However the discreteness of the plane and the continuity of the ramp are not incompatible due to the natural interlink between them and therefore result in a harmonious space with significant visual impacts. The colour scheme is greyish blue which is close to a fountain pen drawing style. The various layers and gradual change of colours perfectly embody the capability of expression of light and shadow for this particular design.
